Immigration detention inquiry

The most recent Home Office statistics show that in 2017, 85% of asylum-seeking women released from detention were released back into the community, to continue with their asylum claim – so their detention served no purpose.

The Home Affairs Committee is undertaking a short inquiry into immigration detention, following oral evidence sessions on Brook House, Morton Hall and Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centres.
