
Former refugee Magid Magid becomes Sheffield's Lord Mayor
A former refugee who has taken over as Sheffield's Lord Mayor says he hopes to bring the role "into the 21st Century". Magid Magid, is the city's first Somali mayor, first Green Party mayor, and, at 28, the youngest mayor. He went to Sheffield aged five after six months in an Ethiopian refugee camp with his mother and five siblings who left Somalia "to find a better life". BRASS welcomes two new Syrian families to the UK and Bedford
Nadia Laribi, BRASS's Syrian Refugees Support Officer and BRASS Volunteer, Baraah Abdulaal were at Heathrow on Tuesday to welcome the next two families coming to Bedford. They were arriving from Cairo. We are looking forward to meeting them.

"Domestic Violence in an immigration context" - update training
Following on from the success of our previous immigration update training we will now be offering a training session on “Domestic Violence in the context of Immigration” The training will be held on the 30th May from 2pm to 4pm at the BRASS office at 27b Tavistock Street, Bedford MK40 2RB.
