Christmas Present Appeal

Christmas is coming and we're asking for your help again this year. Last year, we had a massive response to our present appeal and all the presents received were given out at our Christmas Party which is held every year for all clients of BRASS. This year, we are asking for books for children and young people, new or nearly new please. Donated books can be brought to BRASS at 27B Tavistock Street, Bedford MK40 2RB. Thank you!

For Sama

"FOR SAMA" Channel 4, Saturday 26th October, 9pm .....is both an intimate and epic journey into the female experience of war. A love letter from a young mother to her daughter, the film tells the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her. Her camera captures incredible stories of loss, laughter and survival as Waad wrestles with an impossible choice– whether or not to flee the city to protect her daughter’s life, when leaving means abandoning the struggle for freedom for which she has already sacrificed so much. https://www.facebook.com/forsamaf

The Refugee Council Needs Our Urgent Action

The Government is cancelling vital support for thousands of refugees in the UK on 31st October in the event of no-deal Brexit. The funding has enabled the Refugee Council to run vital projects providing crisis advice and support for refugees at risk of homelessness and destitution, helping them understand the UK job market and giving support to reduce isolation. Refugees’ prospects of being able to rebuild their lives in safety and integrate into British life are being put under threat. Sign the Refugee Council letter and demand the Government keeps its promise.
