A new book - America in Afghanistan

Sharifullah Dorani has written a book titled ‘America in Afghanistan: Foreign Policy and Decision Making From Bush to Obama to Trump’, published by a renown publisher, Bloomsbury. Sharifullah came with his parents in 1999. His father, Hajji Asadullah Dorani has been our client since 2000. Sharifullah has a PhD from Durham University. The book gives a fascinating overview on events in Afghanistan and the 'thinking' behind the decisions made by successive US administrations. We've been reading it at BRASS and found it an excellent book. Click to read a review.

Inspired by the beautiful spring-like weather, we have been offering little pots of flowering bulbs for our clients to take away. Not long now before we’ll be enjoying gardening at the BRASS allotment!

Nadia and volunteers achieving success for the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (SVPRS)

A successful SVPRS Volunteers Workshop was held in conjunction with Bedford Borough Council on Friday 01/02/2019 at BRASS led by Nadia Laribi (Syrian Refugees Support Officer at BRASS) . Because of their language skills, the volunteers are involved in the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme. The participants who not only learned new skills, but enjoyed the workshop were Baraah Abdulaal, Nadia Gasmi, Muna Suleiman, Doha Alneser and Mahmoud El Seyed. Some of the team have already been volunteering with BRASS for over 2 years. “Managing the programme has been a challenge in the past, but with the volunteers’ contribution it has become a success!” Nadia Laribi told us.

A Donation of Wheels!

A huge thank you to the gentleman who kindly donated a bicycle, helmet, pump and clips to BRASS this week. The bicycle has been given to a very grateful teenager client. Thank you again.
