
Refugee Week School Assembly
During Refugee Week, we've been very keen to raise awareness about refugees and asylum seekers and what better place to start than in school! Sally, one of our amazing volunteer tutors, joined Grange Academy, Kempston for their school assembly on Monday to present a PowerPoint presentation. We've had some great feedback from teachers who've commented that it was the start of some very good conversations when they went back to class but has also encouraged more donations towar

Refugee Week Evening Gala
Join an evening Gala at St Paul's church, Bedford on Saturday 25th June, 7pm - 9pm, in support of new Ukrainian friends in Bedford and refugees from across the world. There will be time to interact with art installations 'Midair' and 'Second Breath', alongside performances of poetry and music, and presentations made by Ukrainian ESOL students. Light refreshments will be offered.

An artist and Ukrainian refugee said her work was "full of inspiration and life" since arriving in the UK. Maria, who studied at the Lviv Academy of Art, fled Ukraine two months ago. Her work has been featured in an exhibition focusing on art created by migrants and refugees at St Paul's Church in Bedford. Myth Busting at the Market
A big thank you to everyone who came to our #RefugeeWeek Market Stall yesterday to chat and offer support for refugees and asylum seekers and our charity's work. Advice, myth-busting information and gifts of Aloe Vera plants featured at this year's stall. We're very grateful to The Higgins for bringing plants and items made by the Higgins Knitting & Crochet Group and for helping us set up and run the event.

World Refugee Day
Each year on June 20, the world celebrates World Refugee Day. This year, the focus is on the right to seek safety. Every person on this planet has a right to seek safety – whoever they are, wherever they come from and whenever they are forced to flee.

Football Tournament Kicks Off Refugee Week 2022
The team from BPHA are winners of this year's BRASS Refugee Week 5-a-side football tournament. Well played BPHA! Congratulations also to the Social Workers team who came second, Bedfordshire Police who came third and all the other competing teams!

Coffee and Art Benefit BRASS
A hugely successful coffee morning fundraiser was held on 27th May. Shereen Rahwangi very generously gifted the proceeds from her large rose painting (pictured behind Shereen in the photo) as well as a number of other paintings. Elizabeth Turner, one of BRASS’s ESL teachers kindly donated from the sale of her paintings.
