'Tis the Season for Home and Humanity at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery
Vivacity presents "Home and Humanity" at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery from 10th October until 8th December 2019.
"Home and Humanity" is a season of events focusing on the refugee crisis through art. The programme, which includes 2 exhibitions, an artist-led community project and a film, puts a spotlight on the individual stories behind the news reports and statistics, placing the audience into the shoes of those who have experienced the plight first hand.
The work on display can feel hard to digest at times, with the narratives providing a raw and honest insight into the lives of those who have been forced to leave their homes suddenly. However, it is important that these stories are shared, and the voices of those affected are amplified in order to take action.
The 2018 Annual Report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) informs that by the end of 2017, there were over 68 million men, women and children worldwide driven from their homes due to war, violence and persecution. The refugee crisis continues to affect millions of lives daily.
